Bank statements covering the period from 02/09/08 to 08/12/08 are exactly are the 3 months bank statements, u dont need to worry about.
as for as your 2nd question that RECENT Bank Statements, If you read the PSW guidence notes, IT says on page 20 paragraph 2 that (Only the most recent statement must be dated within seven days of the application, for out of country applications, and one month for in-country applications.)
So you sumitted your application on 03/01/09, and last statement/transaction date was 08/12/08, 26 days old. BUT that is still in one month time frame. So your bank statements are still considered recent ones. Less than one month old.
You dont need to worry about any thing, Just needed to make sure that your bank statement transactions were covering 90 days.
