Naturalized citizen - birth certificate

Post by vzlanfrog » Thu Oct 12, 2023 12:08 pm

Hello

When you have the Irish citizenship via naturalization, can you get a birth certificate from the HSE or do you need the birth certificate from your original country?

The misu (EU citizen but not irish) is pregnant. To register the birth in her country of origin she needs the birth certificate of both parents. Hers will be no issue, but I'd rather register the kid with Irish documents.

Thanks

Whose birth certificate are we talking about?

HSE provides birth certificates to people born in Ireland, if that's what you're asking.

No, only available if born in Ireland. Some countries like France issue birth certs to naturalised citizens (listing their country of birth, not France) but Ireland only issues naturalisation certificate.
