Neutralisation from ILR (GTV 3 years)

Post by shan1403 » Fri Oct 13, 2023 8:15 pm

Hi Folks,

First of all, a BIG BIG thanks to this wonderful forum for helping hundreds and thousands during their immigration journey and solving some really complicated cases.

Second, a brief about my case.
I was on a GTV visa and got my ILR (after 3 years) in 2021. My question is very simple and short, but I couldn't find a clear answer to it (sadly).

Can I apply for Neutralisation as soon as my five years are finished or do I have to wait 5 + 1 = 6 years to apply for British Citizenship? Normally people cannot apply for Neutralisation unless they spend 12 more months after getting ILR.

Really appreciate a prompt reply.

Thanks :)

You can apply after five years of lawful residence, 3 years on visa and 2 years on ILR. The 5+1 scenario is based on getting ILR after five years on visa.
This is just my opinion as a member of this forum and does not constitute immigration advice.
