Any way to get visa for over 18 child?

Post by ukvisat2 » Mon Oct 30, 2023 11:25 am

My friend is keen to bring his son, who is studying in Pakistan and is financially dependent on father income.

He recently received International Sportsperson visa for five years. https://www.gov.uk/sportsperson-visa
His family (wife and 2 daughters <18 year old) joined him a couple of months ago. He is really worried about his son, who is over 18 and studying University in Pakistan. He is really keen to find out the best option to bring his son to UK? https://www.gov.uk/sportsperson-visa/yo ... d-children

Thank you for your time.

Though his child however the son is already an adult and UK immigration has got no provision to favilitate an adult son moving to UK on basis of family. Son will have to go on a path that he qualifies for by himself e.g. student, work or any other route.

If a dependent has not started their immigration journey by their 18th birthday, there is no route under the Immigration Rules for them, other than the Adult Dependent Relative visa, which is extremely difficult to get (no. of visas issued per year are in single digits down to zero) and which has very high requirements regarding the physical care that a person needs (which is why his son won't qualify).

Your friend will be unable to sponsor his son on any immigration journey to the UK. The son can of course start his own immigration journey, as advised above by @AmazonianX.

Alternatively, your friend may want to look at moving to some EU member-states, which allow immigration for dependents under the age of 21.
