Care worker scam

Post by uhuss12 » Wed Nov 15, 2023 12:58 am

Hello a family member of mine has fallen for a care worker visa scam, they paid big money to an agency but when arriving in the UK, there was no job. They can't legally work another job, but as far as home office are concerned documents are legit.

If they look into it what will home office do, can they deport even though they are the victim.

Your family member and or victim as most probably knew what they were getting into; the payment alludes to this.
HO can cancel the Sponsorship licence of such agency and family member sent back to home country if no other sponsorship job found within time.

If they do not have a valid visa, why shouldn't the HO deport them? Claiming to be a victim is no excuse, anyone could do that.

The situation with the health and care worker visa has been discussed in this forum for some time now, and recently has brought more? attention to the media. However this has been happening since it was introduced.

I only can speculate that this route might be scrapped - or at least substantially changed - anytime soon. Everyone knows that the scheme has been abused from day 1.

The other day I saw a TV report showing someone who paid £20,000 to an "agency" or "agent" for this visa, then when arrived to the UK found out that the employer didn't exist. I also have seen some "agents" on LinkedIn blatantly offering a CoS - to apply for this visa - for a "reasonable" price.

Occasionally there are posts here of members under this visa complaining about abuse or exploitation from their employers.

Didn't paying that much money for a CoS ring alarm bells?

Paid way to enter UK. Anything further is to sort themselves out.
How dire must the situation be to be able to pay 20,000GBP.
