Council tax joint tenancy support

Post by sha66ir » Thu Nov 30, 2023 8:35 pm

Me (no recourse to public funds) and my partner (British citizen) have been claiming council tax support for 9 months now.

On the online application we mentioned that my wife is a British citizen and I am not.

Am I in breach of immigration law. And if I am how do I resolve this.

Thanks

Potentially. If you were not present in the household and your partner would otherwise get a single person discount on council tax liability then your presence increases liability by 25% and therefore increases council tax support which in turn increases the amount of public funds paid.
