child citizenship referees

Post by samory » Mon Jan 08, 2024 10:41 am

Hi

I have a child born in the UK and we the parents both have ILR.

When we asked our child's teacher and the nurse who have dealt with him, they refused to provide the informaiton required to use citing data privacy issues, can I ask please what to do in this situation? I am sure if we ask his Doctor, will cite the same reason... the Home Office looking obviously for someone to trust us with their sensitive data such as the passport number, date of birth, addresses !!

Appreciate any advice please.

I assume you're applying for MN1 - Registration as British Citizen.

It's a frequent issue, professionals working with children are not keen to give their personal details or passport numbers. UKVI are aware of this. They will accept referees who are normally used for adult applications. The referees must know the child, as per the instructions: https://visas-immigration.service.gov.u ... onsent.pdf
Here a list of accepted professions (pp24): https://assets.publishing.service.gov.u ... als_v4.pdf
Attach a note with the application explaining, if you had emails about this also those.
This is just my opinion as a member of this forum and does not constitute immigration advice.

Many thanks, yes MN1

So just to confirm in this case, I will have:
1- Any British citizen as a referee who known our child for 3 years - for reference our child age is now 4 years and 4 months.
2- Any person (not nececarliy British Citizen) from the profession list in page 24?

There isn't any form to fill, just getting the referees data into the MN1 application form?

Thanks again for your help.

Agree with you understanding, but referees have to sign a form each which you upload with the other documents.

Many thanks, can I ask please where is that form? I will then let the referees fill and sign.
