Critical skills permit - under €64k, QA lead, relevant degree

Post by nastio » Thu Jan 18, 2024 2:28 pm

Hi everyone,

It's my first time creating topic on this website :)

I'm considering the possibility of getting a Critical Skills Employment Permit in Ireland. I would highly appreciate your help.

I am a non-EEA national and I can get a job offer with a remuneration higher than €38,000 per year, but less than €64,000.

Job offer in IT as a Quality Assurance lead (not sure what suits here more 2133 or 2139).

I have a degree qualification in "Management of organizations and administration" and work experience - 10 years in QA positions.

So the question is, taking into account that the lead role implies management (hopefully :D ), can my degree be eligible for this kind of permit? Should I give it a try?

Thank you in advance.

IMO there's no downsides in trying as you need to apply for a work permit first.
If approved, great, if refused, you get most of the money back and it's not an immigration refusal, so won't have to declare it for visa applications/etc.
Not a qualified immigration adviser. Use links and references given to gain confirmation and/or extra information.

Thank you a lot for your answer! I think I will try to do so. Should I more apparently submit it as 2133: IT SPECIALIST MANAGERS, so that there are more chances it will be approved?

what about 246 ? I would say if the name of job/vacancy on contract is Quality Specialist then use the closest one 2462. It all really depends upon the case worker and the reputation of the company in my experience.

Well, looks like 2462 is not exactly related to software quality assurance.

By the way, guys, maybe you could also help me to clarify what is the best way to prove experience during application?

mine was completed by Agency and they just copy pasted my CV. Maybe my CV was that good but general bullet point summary was used in my case.

Also regarding the 246 point.... it depends how well you explain it. In my case one company rejected and one was accepted both in 246 and I dont work in software. When I called them up they said your employment is not in the critical skills list. a month later another (bigger) company filed the CSEP under same name same point and it was accepted. if the name on contract is Quality Assurance.. I would be inclined towards it.

Is occupation code explicitly specified somewhere or you just mean to specify tasks related to the specific code?
