Student Dependant Visa

Post by queries123 » Wed Jan 24, 2024 12:59 pm

Hi there all,

Asking behalf of a friend

My friend has come to the UK on December Intake 2023, the course started in December itself.

Can she bring her dependant now and she's married just before coming to the UK.

Please kindly give me clear picture, so I can pass the message to her on her husband.

Many Thanks

Her concern is from Jan 2024 intake dependant is not allowed to bring along with students.

so wanted to confirm, she can plan up for her husband.

Is that still ok bring the dependant right as the course started in December and the CAS / offer letter provided for December 2023.

Kindly confirm pleases?

I am not confused. i think your friend is confused.

Whether they can bring a dependant depends on the type of dependant, the level of the course, and the start date of the course. All three aspects are explained clearly at the information and application portal, under "Your partner and children":

Hi there,

Thank you for your reply.

She is here with RQF7/SCQF11 doing her master's in here.

And her course has started in December 2023.

Questions that her course has started in December 2023 and can she bring her husband to the UK on her student visa as the course started in December not Jan after Intake.

Could you please suggest on this?

Thank you

I fear you are confusing your friend by trying to be an amateur visa adviser. Which is illegal, by the way.

She can check it for herself at that link I posted on the UK government website. If she prefers to look at the legislation itself, it is paragraph ST 31.1(b) of Appendix Student:

https://www.gov.uk/guidance/immigration ... ix-student

But moreover as a university student, unlike most people who post here she has access to free, trained and regulated visa advice from her university. She does not need to rely on random strangers on the internet, or indeed well-meaning but misinformed friends.

Hi there!

She is living with me, why should I give her a wrong info when her application will be straightforward.

See, I usually use this forum for all my applications and I HAVE never used solicitor in this way.

How can you tell me that I am giving false info to someone who trust me?

All we wanted to know that whether she can bring her husband on her student visa or not as online I can see for def apply for phD students from Jan. we have NOT started the filling up the application as yet.

If you dont have a right answer, you dont have to answer to the threads who people really wanted to info whether can doable or not - SIMPLE!!! atleast someone can advise respectively! not missing the posts PLEASE!!!

I can do all the google links that related which wont be helpful and some of the articles are confusing that is why we are seeking help here which is free of cost here right?

To clarify, I am not giving you random "google links". I am directing you to the official application portal itself, where the information is clear on who can bring dependants. See the section "Your partner and children", where the first paragraph explains who is affected by the recent rule change.

If it is still not clear to her or to yourself, she has the free professional advice at her university.

Why do you think she not be able to bring her dependants, OP?

You were advised multiple times/pointed to guidance which shows restrictions apply after courses started in 2024, as you already know.

Your question is, essentially, "People born in 2000 will be 24 years old this year, my friend was born in 1999, will she be 25?". I don't know what's the debate and hostility is about.
