extension of business visa for ireland

Post by strongbow » Thu Jan 15, 2009 4:40 pm

Does anyone know if a business visa for ireland can be extended after arrival here.
We had asked a visa national from our partner company to visit us for 4 weeks but now the 4 weeks are up and we are looking to extend his stay. His visa was stamped only for 4 weeks upon entry into ireland.

if this can be done, does anyone know the procedure for this.

What visa did he actually get? Is that a C visit visa? If that is the case, that visa only allows you to stay in ireland for max 90 days. If C visit visa was issued for a shorter time, there is a chance to extend it at your local immigration officer to get the full 90 days since arrival into the state. If on the visa sticker it is writen 'strictly no extensions', then that's exactly what it means, that visa will not be extended.
