Visitor Visa Extension

Post by dhilipjack » Tue Feb 27, 2024 10:56 am

Dear All,

I am completely aware that we cannot extend the visitor visa any further than 6 months. However, my friend son is undergoing a surgery and he has got another kid who needs to be looked after. The place of surgery is not in same city where they are living, hence they will have take their daughter to another city to support their. His parents are currently here, unfortunately their visa runs out on the same week as the surgery date. Is there any possibilities to extend their visa highlight the family medical emergency?

If they have been here the full six months on a 6 months only visa then they are likely to get a straight refusal. While the cause for staying is emotionally stressful it is not an exceptional circumstance that directly impacts them. Eg they were in an accident and could not fly etc.

While it is unlikely an extension will be granted in the first place - given the circumstances of the request it will be classed as unpaid work looking after the second child.

If an application is made and is refused then that will almost certainly prevent any further visits to the UK - it is a big risk if they try to extend.
