90 days outside the UK and applying for Britizen Citizenship

Post by zeeshan350 » Mon Mar 11, 2024 11:29 am

Hello everyone,

Thank you for helping me in the past. I have a question for my wife now.

She got ILR on 21-09-2022 and it is valid till 31-12-2024. Last year, we traveled to Pakistan for some family events and now I'm wondering if she stayed 90 days outside the UK. I have no idea what to do next and I am considering applying her British Citizenship or Neutralisation at the end of June 2024.

Her travel dates:
27 Feb 2023- 21 May 2023 (83 days)
24 Jun 2023-08 Aug 2023 (45 days)
24 Oct 2023 - 31 Oct 2023 (7 days)
20 Dec 2023 - 13 Jan 2024 (24 days)

Do I need to apply before June 2024 or is this the right way to proceed? Since she has spent 77 days outside of the UK in the last 12 months (by taking 83 days off), that's the only reason I am applying for her in June 2024.

I and my son are already a British Citizen except for my wife.

Kind Regards,
Zeeshan Munawar

Her ILR will stay valid also after 31/12/2024, it's only the card that will expire.

If wife applies after 21 May she will be fine for absences in the last year. Day of departure and arrival don't count.

Your wife needs to respect also the overall residency requirement of having been out of the country for less than 270 days in the last 3 years.
