Schengen visa

Post by Bethoven707 » Fri Apr 12, 2024 9:43 pm

Hi all not sure how I post a new post? Would be grateful if someone can advise.

Schengen Visa question

My wife is a Pakistani citizen granted UK Spouse Visa and I myself reside with her in the UK as a dual British-German citizen.

Can I apply for the 'Family member' Schengen Visa for her?

FYI "Family members of citizens of the European Union or of the States of the European Economic Area (EEA) or Switzerland are entitled to a preferential free-of-charge visa, provided that they are travelling with the citizen of the European Union, the EEA or Switzerland or are on the way to joining them."

As you are also German, yes that will be the correct category of Schengen visa

Thanks very much :)

Just one more question. I do not reside in Germany but in London. Assume that would not impact things?

You still have all the rights as an EU citizen when dealing with the EU!
This is just my opinion as a member of this forum and does not constitute immigration advice.

Just make sure you don't use Germany as your point of entry. Apply for the Schengen visa at a different embassy and best don't add multiple destinations. Netherlands, France, Sweden, Austria or Portugal embassy/vfs will be the easiest.
