Stamp 4 from Stamp 1G

I changed from Stamp 1G spouse of csep to Stamp 4 after completing 5 years on STAMP 1g .My stamp 4 is only valid for one year.I dont know how the immigration officer decided that .Is it true that if Iam changing from Stamp 1G to Stamp 4 .I can only get one year

From what I've heard, spouses usually get yearly stamps. So it's normal.

Probably they'll check your dependant status every year - dont know.
