IRP validity issue

Hi all,

Asking this question on behalf of a friend. He was on a 2 year contract (extendable) in Ireland which he completed but did not want to extend his contract in Ireland so went back to the origin country a month back. So officially his role is finished in Ireland and he moved to his origin country. However, the IRP is still valid until June 2024.

He is planning to travel to turkey which offers evisa incase the traveller is holding any valid residence permit of schengen country or ireland and UK which he has. The question he has is, will his IRP still be valid as it shows till June 2024 or would it be already blocked post his job resignation by the immigration dept in Ireland?

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

This will depend if he informed the Irish ISD before leaving or IRP was based on his employment and the employer voided it. Did he receive any letter from the ISD before leaving?.

It will also depend on the *Turkish side and your "friend's choice of words"*. They mostly just check for the validity of the card and E visa if he is not continuing to Ireland.

Thanks Angel99 for your reply. He did not receive any email from ISD relating to this. His company updated his status as back to origin country (but that is within their company portal and not on immigration website). Can he still use the IRP then?

His office has asked him to submit his IRP by this month end but he is planning to travel before the month end.

With the information you stated, he can use his IRP for the E visa (He has to just watch his choice of words at the Turkish airport . Eg. He can say he is in his home country for holiday break incase they ask him further questions).

He does not need to submit his IRP because he left the country, He paid for that. He should keep it for evidence of previous residency if applying to other countries and requested.
