10 Year Visa for Parents

My parents are applying for a 10-year UK visiting visa, but their Indian passport expires next year May 2025. Does the passport need to be valid for the entire duration of the visa they are applying for?

Can they still apply for 10 year visa?

What happens after expiration of current passport is:
Get a new passport, they then keep and travel with both passports i.e. the old passport that contains the valid visa vignette and new passport.
