Applying for British Citizenship through marriage

Post by startingover » Sat Jan 24, 2009 1:33 am

I am a South African woman who was granted ILR after two years of marriage to a British Citizen whom I met in South Africa. I have now been living in the UK for 3 years, althouth the last six months separated from my husband. I now wish to apply for British Citizenship but am now unsure how the break up of my marriage will affect my application.

Can I still apply and when filling in the form must I indicate that we are now separated although still married? He has since moved back to South Africa.
Yours sincerely

You can still apply as a spouse, as long as you are not divorced.

Have you got evidence of his British citizenship? It will make it simpler if you do, although in the end, it's on your immigration file if you immigrated that way.

Do you want to keep South African citizenship?
