I will be applying for Indian Surrender Certificate, Renunciation Certificate, and OCI, from VFS Goswell. What are the logistics around getting possession of these documents? In particular,
- Is it possible to collect these documents (say from VFS), instead of having them delivered? This would be my preferred option.
- Does the delivery address for these have to be one's home address, or can one choose a different address in the UK for delivery?
- Can one change the delivery address after application? Given that some of these documents can take a long time to arrive, and during that time one may have moved houses.
- If one is travelling during the time when a delivery of these documents is expected, how should one handle this, for example to avoid these documents lying with one's building receptionist for weeks while travelling? Can one ask VFS/HCI to avoid delivering during a certain period?
I know one can always attempt to contact VFS/HCI with such requests, but it's not clear if they will pay attention to these and actually take action as requested.
