Reminder to apply for evisa but citizenship ceremony imminent

Post by Mat28590 » Wed Jun 19, 2024 5:47 pm

Hi

I'm confused that I got a reminder to register for an evisa, but my citizenship application has been approved and my ceremony is in less than 2 weeks.

Do I really need to register for an evisa? I assumed it's irrelevant for citizens, but they sent me an email about it after my citizenship was approved :-S

Kind Regards

Nuttanich

No.
eVisa is immigration and naturalisation is nationality, different processes. Until the ceremony you are still under immigration, after that your ILR/visa is irrelevant :-) You are British from ceremony onwards.

Once you attend the ceremony you will be British so technically eVisa does apply to you for now - likely the eVisa email was automated and the systems don't speak to each other. Plan to attend your ceremony ASAP and the eVisa won't be a problem for you.
