No reply since sending additional documents

Post by VirtualWaver » Sat Sep 28, 2024 2:02 am

Hi guys,

Hope you all are doing well.

So, my wife applied for naturalisation in May.

In her cover letter, she added a note that she had an issue over a train ticket with a transport company in 2014 and that they both mutually agreed for her to make a payment without going to court (this is something Home Office is aware of as she declared this in her previous visa application and provided the evidence, so nothing shady).

In August, she received an email from Home Office asking for "evidence of fine" - a proof that the "fine" was paid in full to the transport company , such as a receipt, a letter or a bank statement. She sent a reply to nationalityfurtherinformationrequests@homeoffice.gov.uk on the same day and attached the letter and receipt from the transport company acknowledging the payment, issued back in 2015, after the payment was made.

Since then, no news at all - no acknowledgment, nothing. Its been almost 2 months now with no updates.

Looking to other threads, most people get a decision within a couple of weeks of sending additional documents.

Even though the application is still within 6 months period, this grave silence makes us very nervous.

Her immigration, criminal and personal history are clean, no issues whatsoever, only this one incident over train ticket that was resolved out of court mutually and was declared to Home Office in her previous application which was, obviously, approved.

Did anyone else experience such a big delay after sending additional documents? Is this something to worry about? Should she send a chaser or just wait until December, when the 6 months timeline will expire? Not sure what to do. Thanks.

Appreciate your anxieties.
It’s a common scenario that there’s no acknowledgment or follow up when submitting additional requested documents. A one liner just saying thank you would be nice. One has to assume that they are ok with it and next email will be the approval advice.
This is just my opinion as a member of this forum and does not constitute immigration advice.

As annoying as it is to not receive any updates/ acknowledgements, you need to be patient for now. You can chase once the application reaches the 6 months mark, chasing earlier hasn't too much use.
