Citizenship application eligibility

Post by jjoy » Mon Sep 30, 2024 10:09 pm

I was on my Tier 2 skilled visa and I received my ILR on September 15th 2024.

My husband received british passport on September 1st 2024.

Can I apply for naturalisation straight away? Or do I need to wait for 1 year ?

Thank you in advance :)

You can apply now, no waiting for 12 months.
You gained ILR and your husband is British.
Please refer to the guidance: https://www.gov.uk/government/publicati ... n-guidance

Thank you.

Does it matter during our marriage we both were not British?

What matters is that your husband was British on the date you gained ILR. There are no requirements as to how long your husband was British before then.
