EMPLOYER CHECK-IS IT MANDATORY FOR SUCCESFUL APPLICATIONS???

hello everyone,

I am extremly frustrated as i applied on 19-11-08 for tier -1 -general but, havent heard from the HO till now. i called them on 4-2-09 and they said status still awaited. I am extremly tense though my case is v. clear, my employer has not been contacted in India until now. My question is is the HO contacting the employer for all succesful applications or not?

I don't know whether the employer check is mandatory or not, but in my case I came to know that HO has contacted my employer for verification.
