PSW and Long Residence

Post by djc » Fri Feb 13, 2009 11:59 am

Hi There,

Is it true that being on the PSW sets your clock back to 0 for the long residence 10 year rule? A friend of mine has been in this country for 8 years and is currently on the IGS , planning to change into PSW. He has however been informed that doing so would set his clock back to 0. Is it true? Is it not 10 years of "legal residence" which is going to be counted?????

Long residence- does not matter which visa you are on. As long as you are living continuously in UK for 10yrs.

as far as i know, PSW will not be counted into the residence thing. but i don't think changing to PSW will reset the count to zero.

PSW period will not be counted in part of Five year residency but it will be counted in part of ten year legal residency as said by rizwan and raj.
