Work Permit Dependant applying for Tier-1

Post by vasuda » Sun Feb 22, 2009 9:38 pm

Hello All,
Can you please help.
I am on a Work Permit Dependant Visa residing in UK. Can I apply for Tier 1 Visa in UK. I qualify for the points required but not sure if I can apply from UK or I need to travel to India to apply for Tier 1 as I am Dependant.

You can apply from the UK for sure.

But make sure to apply soon, as you are aware of the new policy coming into force by April.

You need to come back to India( since you are doing a switch - from dependent to own visa) and then apply for a Tier 1 from India.

Please refer to the link below:

You cannot switch to tier 1 from UK itself and you have to return to India to apply.

Good news is that in case, your tier 1 gets rejected, you can still come to UK on your dependent visa.
