Switching from student to Tier 2

I am currently a masters student, here on student entry clearance, who hands in her last assignment at the end of August and will officially graduate in December of this year. However, I have a job offer that starts in September and they are willing to sponsor me. I will have to be on my Tier 2 visa prior to starting with them, which would mean switching from student entry clearance to Tier 2 prior to my schooling coming to an end. Is it possible to do this? I'm not sure if I have to finish my schooling under SEC before switching, or if I am able to still be a full time student under Tier 2 for a bit.
