The following formula is used to compute the UK equivalent salary
UK Salary = Gross Salary INR * Oanda INR to GBP rate (as of 28-February-2009) * 5.3

The multiplier 5.3 is used because India falls under Band D countries. The multiplier is obtained from UK visa site http://www.ukvisas.gov.uk

UK Salary Equivalent = 6, 46,862 * 0.01372 * 5.3 = £47037.21

The resulting figure £ 47037.21 arrived belongs to the salary range of £40000+ as mentioned in the UK visa site http://www.ukvisas.gov.uk .Hence I have claimed 45 points under this section.
