Amendment 23A

Post by mcclaine » Thu Mar 26, 2009 4:26 pm

I understand that as a matter of legislative procedure, the Lords cannot revisit amendment 23A to fix the inaccurate wording and will now leave this for Commons to amend any defects.

Commons, being Labour controlled, will definitely not pass any remedial amendments to 23A.

I can't believe the Lords are saying that although the amendment in 23A does not reflect what they intended, they nevertheless cannot amend the provision as a matter of legislative procedure.

How can this be a valid method of lawmaking???
