UK Tier 1 stamp with incorrect Nationality details - URGENT

Post by gd786 » Wed May 20, 2009 2:18 am

Hi all,

Need your expert advice:

I got my UK HSMP Tier 1 General visa stamp in March 2009. Thanks to this forum once again.

My nationality detail printed is incorrect on my stamp.

Nationality = USA.

Although I filed my Tier 1 from USA but my passport itself states that I am non-US citizen on work visa as well as place of birth was clearly mentioned on passport. I did provide my birth certificate details also.

Please guide me what should I do to rectify this mistake by consulate officer here in USA. Specifically I am concerned that if they think about new stamp after April 01, 2009 then new rules might apply to me or they will simply re-stamp with the same issuance date of March 2009.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,
Dont worry. Get this sorted out right away. They will stamp it from Mar'09
Immigration law is mystery and a mastery in obfuscation, and the lawyers who can figure that out are worth their weight in gold.

Thanks for your reply. But should I send my passport directly to consulate without any documentation. Any idea what process should I follow to rectifiy this stamp or get new stamp with previous issuance date of March 2009.

You should contact any commercial partner embassy have(eg. VFS) or directly to embassy visa section. They will advise you, and correct mistake.

Please see the following link:

Check your visa
Please check your visa when you get it. You should make sure that:
*your personal details are correct
*it correctly states the purpose for which you want to come to the UK, and
*it is valid for the date on which you want to travel. (You can ask for it to be post-dated up to three months if you do not plan to travel immediately).

If you think there is anything wrong with your visa, contact the visa application centre or visa section immediately.
Good luck..
