EC Guidance Required

Post by smsantosh » Thu May 12, 2005 2:14 pm

HI All,

I applied for my HSMP on 23 Mar 2005 and it got approved on the 19th April 2005.I was very lucky indeed.

I am now in the process of applying for my EC.I have the following questions.

1) I have about 3500 GBP in my accounts.
2) My assets (My car and my apartment) should earn me around 18,000 GBP which I intend to dispose.
Is this more than enough for my EC?

I have 2 dependents my wife and my mother-in-law.My father-in-law expired a year ago and since then she is staying with me and my wife. How much money should I show in my bank account?

Should I apply for my wife's and my mother-in-law's EC along with me?Or I can wait till I get a job, rent an apartment and then apply for their EC?

Please advise.

Thank you,
Santosh.

Sm,

you need to prove that your mother in law is entirely depedant on you and that she has no other relatives who can look after her.

I think you have sufficient funds for EC. However, it is unlikely that EC will be granted to your mother in law.

It is best to initially apply for yourself and spouse.

Good luck

Thank you for your prompt reply.

My mother in law is entirely dependent on me and she has no close relatives to support her as well. Will she still not be able to get the EC?

Since I am looking at permanent immigration to the UK,if she does not get EC then I am not sure whether I would be able to go or not.

Is it possible for me to apply for my EC first and then apply for my wife's and mother-in-law's EC later after I have rented an apartment?Which is the best solution?

EC for ur mother-in-law is very difficult as per my knowledge and almost impossible but you and your can still go, secure a job and arrange accomodation.

Then you apply for your mother-in-law visit visa, multiple for 5 years.

so she can stay with you and travel every 6 months as she cannot stay over 6 months on visit visa. One of my friends father is doing this.

Once you have ILR and you donot claim public fund you can apply for family immigration.

Good luck

Thank you for your prompt reply.Should I apply for my EC first go to the UK and then apply for my spouse's visa and my mother-in-law's just to see if I get lucky?

What is the procedure for the same? Will they keep my HSMP approval letter after my EC is done or it will be with me?

You can try your luck ofcourse.

They should return you the HSMP letter.

Better is to apply your wife's EC with you.

Thank you Rex for your responses. Is there a restriction on the number of months my wife has to travel once her EC is done?Or she can travel 6 months after her EC?
