Need help in selecting start day of salary claiming time per

This question is regarding my salary time periods

I am on HSMP visa and now applying for extension under Tier 1 (General)

My HSMP visa expiring on 23 August 2009

I am not sure that form which day of the month I start claiming my salary points

In last three months I had worked on two jobs and I was un employed between 10 Jan 2009 to 14 March 2009

My time period at the previous jobs till date as follows
Job 1:
01 Feb 2008 to 09 Jan 2009

Job 2:
15 March 2009 to Till date

Now I want to claim points from July 2008 till now becuase this will give me enough slary points

But I am not sure that which day of the month I should choose so the salary claim is correct

Typically for both jobs Salary comes in my account on 27 or 28 of the month
Should I start my day of the month from first day of month or from 28 of previous month because I dont add the day which is not covered under the salary

amount claim?

Job 1:
01 July 2008 to 09 Jan 2009

Job 2:
15 March 2009 to 23 July 2009

Start from the first day of the month.

Your salary for that month is paid on 27 or 28 doesn't change the fact that you are paid for the full month. In the UK, you are generally paid a little earlier than the last working day of the month so that you can manage your bills and expenses which traditionally n eeded to be paid on the last date or first day of next month.

Thus, to take your example, take the start date as 1 Jul 2008 even though you get paid your salary on 27 or 28 Jul 2008. Normally, the pay-slips mention the month or dates for which you are getting paid. Even if it is not, don't worry as this is standard industry practice.

Earnings have to be shown for 12 consecutive months in the 15 months immediately before your application date. So if you make the required earnings from july 2008 till june 2009 or august 2008 to july 2009, inspite of your unemployment between 10th jan 09 to 14th march 09, then you can use any one of these 12 months periods.

And it doesnt matter which day of the month you are paid. What matters is what month the salary is for. So even if you are paid on 28th of december (for example) the salary is still for the month of december (1st to 31st).

If i was you i would use:

1st july 2008 to 30th june 2009

OR

1st August 2008 to 31st july 2009 whichever period gave me the required earnings.
