HSMP ILR JR BACKDATED ILR NO FOR DEPENDANTS BUT FOR MAIN APP

Post by anotherspouse » Sat Jun 13, 2009 11:45 am

Hi all!....
Just this morning we got all the passports and supporting documents back. ILR has been granted. However it surprises me that the cover letter giving backdated ILR is only for the main applicant. I, as a spouse, will not be able to apply for citizenship until next year, which means that if my husband, the main applicant, decides to apply now for citizenship, we will have to pay the home office fees twice.
The "Policy Document" clearly states:
" Dependants 26. The immigration status of dependents of migrants in the categories covered by this policy will follow that of the principal applicant.".

am I right to think that HO should have sent a letter to me as well?...

Thanks for sharing, everyone! It seems like it's worth doing a postal application now for ILR (JR). Another person from HSMP forum got his in three weeks (but they forgot the backdated ILR letter).

anotherspouse, they have made a mistake. they need to issue you a letter with the backdated ILR too (people who went to PEO have gotten this letter). you should follow this up by contacting them.

Yes of course!....

After several attempts to make an appointment to apply for the ILR in person we gave up and contacted an agent. They has slots available for the week after we contacted them. We sent bank statements for the last 12 months, 5 P60, letter for employers for the whole period, letter for employer specifying days of absences for business trips or training and marriage certificate together with birth certificates. Application was straight forward, on the same day we got answer for the agent confirming that the application had been successful.
The only problem we have now is that Home Office did not send the letter backdating the ILR for the dependents. We need it to apply as a family for citizenship next September. I believe wife and kids have the right as well. Next thing I will do would be to contact the solicitors / HO first thing on Monday morning.

Good luck to all!

What number should we be using to call HO then?
