leave to enter stamp on passport

Post by smav » Mon Jun 15, 2009 8:02 pm

Hello forum,

I have question on tier 1 dependent entering UK. Main applicant and dependent are living in EU outside UK. Tier 1 main applicant already visited UK for 2 days and returned back with entry date stamped on the visa. But there is no special stamp such as `leave to enter`. 1) In what cases one get 'leave to enter' stamp on the passport during their first entry to UK. 2) Is it must for everyone to get that stamp to live for longer time in UK, 3) Is it must that the main applicant should have leave to enter stamp on passport before the dependent travel to UK without main applicant.

regards
smav

Your VISA itself id "Leave to Enter" UK. The stamp immigration officer puts simply confirms your port an date of entry. The details of your entry are logged into the HO database as well and forms part of your immigration history/status in UK. Your dependents can come with you/join you as long as their VISA is valid.

Thanks push_hsmp.

The main applicant is not in UK now but he was there in UK for 2 days (entered with tier1 visa). Now can the dependent travel alone without the main applicant?

Technically, no. The main applicant should be in the UK and the dependent may be asked where the main applicant is, what their address in the UK is. But the dependent could get away with this.
