I have recently been granted ILR and my ILR has been backdated to August 2006. Hence, I am planning to apply for Citizenship by the end of July'09. I have got a few things to get clarified before I do that
1) I got to know about this Nationality Checking Service and have called up and left a message thrice on three different days during last week and today. However, haven't received a call back. These nationality checking services are based in Scotland. I tried writing an e-mail and the email bounced back with a failure delivery notification. Any advice on how to get hold of these guys would be useful.
2) I am planning to submit the following documents. Kindly confirm if I had missed out anything else:
1) ILR approval letter backdated to August 2006
2) Bank statements for the last 6 months
3) Passport
4) Initial HSMP approval letter
5) Birth Certificate
6) Letters from HMRC showing the statement of account and the tax calculations as an individual tax payer for the last 6 years
7) Letter from HMRC for the payment of Corporation tax as a Limited Company
Company accounts issued by the accountant for the Limited Company
9) Life in the UK test pass certificate
10) Current contract of employment
11) Passport size photograph
Kindly review the list above and let me know if there is a need to submit any other documents.
3) How long does it generally take for the British Citizenship application to be decided? I also have seen that once approved, the candidate will have to go through the oath and pledge ceremony. Is this after the application has been completely decided?
4) Do I need to apply for a British passport seperately after my Citizenship application has been approved? If so, what is the procedure and how long does it take?
Your help by providing this information would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Rags
