Update re. EEA2 Applications Processing Time

Post by megmog » Wed Jul 22, 2009 4:50 pm

Hi all,

Just thought I'd let you know I just managed to get through to the 0151 672 5626 line... I was advised that applications are taking about 12 months at the moment...

We are planning on returning to South Africa for Xmas so he advised us to make travel arrangements anyway and just request the passports back if it's not done before then (which it likely wont be - we applied in Feb)...

I am sure most people realises they are taking a really long time - but this might help anyone planning on a holiday etc.

So much for moving the EEA department from Croydon to Liverpool, on the pretext that it would improve their 'efficiency'. Yeah, right!

Whaaat? 12months?

Well we sent our documents last year Sep-2008!

And still waiting....!!!

What are they doing at the HomeOffice? Watching porno from Jacqui Smith? And then claim it on the expenses?

I was also told it will take this long, but I didn't take it. I complaint to the Home Office, I was calling them every week, I complaint to my MP. I received a response for my complaint from the HO on the 11th of July. And on the 20th they have granted my husband's visa and he should get it by end of this week.

complaining helps a lot, I believe :)

we waited from December 2008

How to complaint?

Post by Eric-Poole » Thu Jul 23, 2009 7:50 am

Here is a page with the list of complaints units:
http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/conta ... omplaints/

If UKBA did not process your application within 6 months they are in breach of the Law (EU Directive 58 ). You may find these useful:

Cheers. Eric

I received the passport today :)

My complaints:

- called Home Office on 0845 010 5200 asking about the progress, when they said it's in a queue for consideration I said that it has been six months and it is against my rights etc.

- wrote a formal complaint letter to the HO address in Liverpool, where I have sent my application

- another formal complaint to the complaint department for the Liverpool Region:

North West Region
PO Box 99
Manchester
M90 3WW

And I was waiting. I didn't hear back from the MP, but received a letter from Liverpool. I called HO again and they said that my application is now with the case worker and it shouldn't be long now. That letter was dates 11th of July and I called them on the 14th.

Now I can see that they have granted the visa on the 15th of July.

The whole process of me complaining starter just after Home Office's deadline was done. From 3rd of July until today basically. So not that long.

I believe that complaining really helps. And the more sources the better.

Hi I called the Uk border agency on Monday and I was told that a decision was made on the 17 of July and that my documents were sent on the 20/07 . Today is thursday and I am still waiting for my passport. Do you know how long does it take to get the docuemtns back.I was also told tha my resident was granted, but they could not give a delivery reference number as two numbers were missing from their system. I hope they havent lost my docuemtns. I also made a complaint and sent two letters and emails as well.

I know that calling this number is annoying and nerve-breaking, but it is the only way... The longest it took me to reach them was 2 hours. every 5 min I was calling and finally i got through. Few times it only took 5 min. So keep calling...
