Looking at the feedback from people on this forum looks like they do verify your employement documents... I have seen rejections in the event of verifications not being successful..

YES they do n check all details; even they call again if the details are not available at that point.. it happened in my case during initial visa

This entirely depends on the case worker. If he wants to verify with employer he can; but if he is satified with your documents he may not call employer. That's why member in this forum are stressing on as straight forward application as possible. Looking at the trends and the way HO is getting stricter and stricter..it is more likely that case worker verify with employer so that it tick all the boxes from his side.But again it depend on caseworker.
