Help needed regarding a very confusing situation!!!

Post by raheelahmed » Fri Aug 21, 2009 5:22 pm

Hello,

First of all sorry for such a long post... I am very confused with ukvisa website so I need your help...

Quick Info: Done my Masters from LSBU, My student visa will expre in March 2010, I am here since 2005 (never went back), my wife with me since last 2 and half years and went back once for 2 month and will visiting Pakistan again for one month in Nov to Dec 2009....

So here you go...

All the text and links copied from ukvisa website….

Q. 1) How much I have to show in my bank statement? is it £2800 or £800. If you see on their following website

http://www.ukvisas.gov.uk/en/howtoapply ... tstudywork

They mentioned £2800.

Important!

To qualify for Tier 1 (Post-Study Work) of the Points Based System you must be able to demonstrate that you have funds to support yourself and any dependants. For the main applicant this is £2,800 with a further £1,600 needed for each dependant accompanying you or planning to join you within 12 months of your arrival in the UK. These amounts must be held in your personal bank account for a minimum period of 3 months immediately preceding and dated no more than 1 month prior to the date you submit your application. The balance should not fall below the required minimum at any time during the 3 month period.

But if you go to PDF file

http://www.sheffield.ac.uk/union/advice ... scheme.pdf

and at point base calculator both says £800

https://www.points.homeoffice.gov.uk/gu ... AY_04_HELP

Below on actual form it says £800 on page 33 (version 4/2009) “N1. Does the applicant have access to £800 available funds to support himself/herself?â€

You need to read the guidelines well and stop getting agitated for no reason. I presume that the ukvisas site is for those outside the UK. If your wife has been living with you in the UK as a dependant then when she gets back from abroad, make the application and all you'll need to show will be £800 for you and £533 for her , a total of £1333.

Make sure that the money for your application is not coming from the same one where you have kept the maintenance fund if possible or at least enough to cover it. Also your wife will have to fill a separate form from you and pay an additional £50 even after you have paid the application for yourself.

You need to read the guidelines on the UKBA website and stop worrying unnecessarily.

Thank you for your quick reply.

Can you please give me some information about which forms I need to fill and which one for my wife. As I can see in that above mentioned form there is space for dependents... So still have to fill any other form for her?

Thanks in advance

Go to the UKBA site and fill the form
http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/worki ... g/initial/

You'll also see a section for dependants and find the form for your wife there. You'll need to consent in your wife's form that she can be included in your application.

Visa fees for applications by post is £500, plus £50 for each dependants. Make sure you have in excess of £1,333 (this is not your account balance at the end of the month, but transaction-by-transaction or day-to-day balance) in your account for three continuous months, and the last statement date should not be over one month before you apply for the visa.
