Can I change from Work Permit to Student Visa?

Hi,

I was made redundant a month and a half ago (my company haven't sent the official letter to the home office yet) and I am struggling to find a new job who is willing to sponsor my new work permit under the Point Based System but in the current economy it's very hard so I am thinking of changing to Student visa (Master degree) and study 1 year and then apply for a new work permit under TIER 1 (hopefully the market will be better in one year from now).

Note that my work permit is valid until July 2013 but as far as I know it's not valid if I was made redundant.

Are there any things to take into consideration for this change (other than monetary funds), do you need to leave the country?

Most important question is weather you can switch from Work permit to student visa.I believe No

No possible

So best would be to look new job as soon as possible or request your old employer to employ you again.

Wrong, of course you can switch to student without having to leave the country

Of corse you can switch.

What kind of job are you doing in UK?

Current economic climate does not and will not affect some jobs.
