Can a EEA2 waiting applicant can claim benefits?

HI

I am about to apply for My EEA2 application and at the moment i am working part time and Full time student but in case i loose my job while my application is being processed as it takes 8 to 10 months approx and in some cases even more..

So can i get some help from benefits towards some house rent as it would be difficult for her to help me with my studies and accommodation plus expenses as its too much burden on one person as you know how expensive life is in london..

Excuse my lack of knowledge here and thanks for your help.
