Moving the appointment date or cancel the application?

Post by jumpingzombie » Thu Oct 22, 2009 8:26 am

Hello,everyone.

Im a non EEA citizen living in Norway, and my husband is an EEA citizen living in the UK. We've been married since this July.

I sent my EEA famyly permit application through online at visa4uk on the 25th of September, and made an appointment to show up at the British embassy in Oslo on the 5th of October at first.
However,I couldnt receive some documents to hand in the embassy in time, so I postpone the appointment date to the 13th of October. Unfortunatelly, some documents didnt reach to me by the appointment date again, so I put off the date to the 23rd of October that's actually tomorrow.

However,my husband's documents from the UK havent arrived at my place. If I dont receive them today, I have to move the appointment date again, and then its gonna be the 3rd time to postpone. Why i havent collected some documents is because of the continuas post strike in the UK since this August.....

Will the British embassy suspect me why I've moved the appointment date some times?
And if I need to postpone the date again, is it better to cancel my application once, and re-apply when I collect all documents?

Any advices or opinions are appreciated.
Thank you for reading.

Normally, the very best option would have been to have all your documents in place when making the application, let alone an appointment date!
But I seriously doubt that the BHC would be overly concerned as to why you keep postponing your appointments. I'm sure you're not the first one to do this. If at all they do ask (which I doubt), just explain that you were still collecting all the documents.
Better to postpone the appointment, then miss it altogether! I think they would be quite miffed about that, as the slot could have been offered to someone else. Just make sure you change it in time, and not at the last minute. :)

I've written an essay to the embassy, so I'll add the information why I've postponed the appointment date some times.

My appointment is at 10:45 tomorrow, and the postman usually comes to my place between 12:00-14:00. If I dont receive my husband's documents today, I'll postpone the date through online visa4uk again....

I didn't receive my husband's documents today, so I've postponed the appointment date to the 30th of October.

It's rediculous that my really important application has been interupted by the ROYAL POST STRIKE
