Has anyone got back their visa yet for tier 4, is the visa in the passport or did you get in the form of a card?

Aplication submitted: 1st October 2009
Confirmation recieved: 8th October 2009
Biometric Letter arrived: 21th October 2009
Biometrics Recorded at Croydon PEO: 26th October 2009

Approved & Passport(s) returned: 5th November 2009

Now awaiting ID card to arrive, should take approx 7 working days.

So it took me around 6 weeks in total from submitting application by post.

no, your passports are returned just the way it was with no visa, sticker or anything.

A week later of getting your passport, you will receive an ID card which replaces the old visa that existed in your passport. The ID card shows the length allowed for your stay, whether employment is allowed, whether recourse to public funds is allowed. The ID card also holds your biometric info.

So, when you go abroad and return to the UK, you will show your ID card to the Immigration Officer at the airport alongside your passport.

Hope this helps, please let me know

Thx how long does it normally take? I thought mine took a long time because it said on the UKBA website that they AIM to process 75% of application in 4 weeks....and mine took 6 weeks

wow i never knew they can take THAT long for a STUDENT visa. I've been here for 9-10 years, and i've had good experiences with ukba really. i reckon I've had at least 7 applications and none took more than 3 months.
I mean if it was for ILR then okay, i understand the time but for a student visa, that is just unacceptable!

Have you tried complaining?

no it shouldn't matter...I've been waiting for my card to arrive for almost 9 days now. How long has your family been waiting?

hmmm....shouldn't you have called them by day 10?? Well it's day 11 now so I called UKBA today and at first they thought it got stolen or something because someone had signed for them. But they said they'd investigate and told me that they had made an "administration error" and told me that it is stuck with the couriors because my adress had an error... they had missed out on a line in my adress... so I had to call Croydon PEO and change my adress and call the biometrics again to reconfirm.

SO my estimated arrival of my card is around late next week...
