By yourself - nil.

In the company of or to join your EU national family member - any*.

*Subject to:
  • You carrying your passport.
  • Your EU national family member carrying their passport or National ID card.
  • You carrying either a valid Residence card of a family member of a Union citizen or other evidence which confirms that you are a family member of the EU national in question and who is described in either Article 2(2) or 3(2) of Directive 2004/38/EC.

I mean the opposite of NO.

For as long as your EU national family member is lawfully resident there according with the provisions of the Directive.

Hi xxmar,

just as benifa sais, when together with your partner, you can travel throughout all countries of the EU, no visa needed.

Details >>here<<, practical advice >>here<<.

Note that the Irish "4EUFam" mentioned in the other thread is effectively the same as your Romanian permit.

Without your partner (=travelling alone) you will need a visa.

Rgds, Christian

For travels within most Schengen area, this is a non-Issue, as independent travel is fine. If you intend to travel to the UK or Ireland, then a visa will be required and you will need to be accompanying you EEA partner or joining him/her in the EEA state, to qualify.

But I think that you can still enter in to Schengen for independent travel as a an EU Residence permit holder? :?:
