7th August to 6th November = 3 months maintenance?

Post by faketrain » Sun Nov 22, 2009 2:53 pm

My back statements cover the period of 7th of August to the 6th of November, does this constitute 3 months for maintenance of funds? I am starting to freak out as this is just the way my bank statements are dated. This period covers 91 days, is this sufficient??? Pls advise...

The Home Office guidelines state that you should hold the money for 3 full months proceeding your application. An example would be 7th Aug. to the 7th Nov. You can always print the rest as an online statement and get it stamped or include a letter from the bank declaring its authenticity.

But wouldn't that be 3 months + 1 day? This is my logic: if you submit statements that shows sufficient funds which began at the beginning of the month, say 1 August, then the full 3 months would end 31 October, which is 3 full months. 1 November would be 1 extra day. Does that make sense?

My friend some see it as the 90 days rule (I have heard of it), but I couldn't find one document from the HO mention that it should be 90 days. The rule says at least three months, means why not be on the safe side and win a couple of days extra.

However, refer to these PSW tips from this university website. It does say what I said. At the end it is up to you, they may view the way you argue.

Its better to be safe than to be sorry. I had shown a 100 day statement. Its better if u show u have maintained an amount exceeding £800 at all times for more than a 90 days period.

7 August to 6 September = 1 calender month
7 September to 6 October = 1 calender month
7 October to 6 November = 1 calender month

Can the above breakdown be argued as well though?

Just an fyi, I got my passport back w/ stamped PSW today. I guess I was worrying too much about the whole bank statements thing.

Dear, I am also facing the same situation. My bank statement covers the period starting from July 30, 2009 to October 29, 2009. I applied outside the U.K and still waiting for the reply.

This period covers 91 days as was in your case. H/O categorically mentions that 3 months period bank statement is required. I am still confused. Kindly, give any advice. Thanks

Kind Regards,
Shoaib
