Why you chang job? (tough question at job interview)

When I go to interview, they always ask: "why do you want to change job? why do you want to leave your current job?"
My answer is: "because I wnat to earn more money."

The interviewer then asked: "Does you company know that you are looking for new job?"
My answer is "not".

The interviewer was unhappy with my answer.
Does anybody know how to answer these tough questions during interview?

do not present money to be the sole factor for changing a job (although it might be the only factor). Before going to the interview try to find out the oppertunities available to you in the new company and use them to your advantage in the interview and keep the theme of conversation towards "career progression". Money is something that usually keep increases as you are progressing through your career.
