ILR dependant visa - 2 queries

Hi

I'll be grateful if anyone can help.

I have been self sponsored till now.

I am on a tier 1 general visa in UK and my wife is working on a 5 yr WP. Her WP is coming up for ILR in mid 2011. Can I can change to a dependant visa from a tier 1 general in the next few months so she can include me as her dependant in her ILR application in mid 2011.

Does a dependant visa need to be applied from outside UK mandatorily?

Will be grateful for any help.
