The one that they talk about most is a cap on numbers able to come to the UK as economic migrants....................

They will probably change the citizenship rules but you'd be guessing as to what they'd be changed to.

anyone have any ideas on how they might change citizenship rules or just leave the citizenship rules alone and just impose a cap coming "into" the country? Is it likely they will abolish the plans for probationary citizenship?

Whatever changes they make you would put money on the Tories making it stricter to qualify than it currently is.

do you think they have the same attitudes towards Americans, Canadians, Australians, NZ, etc as they would other nationalities outside the EU? I'm an American (from the US). I was told that Americans aren't the biggest group of people coming in.

If they implement the cap on visas that they're talking about then it will be a cap on visas issued regardless of what nationality you are.

They will talk to immigrants more - that is guaranteed.

PS: don't understand how "s c r e w" became "talk".

1-Cap (New Commers and Citizenship)
2- Favourable for rich and best (May increase the income level/quaification level for T1)
3- Break the link between workpermit and ILR/citizenship.
4- Increase time when one could be eligible for PC.
5-They could adopt hard approach for EU immigration.

You never know its all guess work or from their comments on labour policies. People could have different approach when they know all the inside information.

Unfortunately, short of leaving the EU which i can't see them doing despite all their talk, there's not a lot that can be done with number 5.

In regards to number 2, the minimum income level looks like it's going to be going up in the new year anyway for tier 1. Nothing wrong with encouraging personal wealth and the bettering of oneself. It's almost a crime under the Labour government to do so.
