Penalty Points on Driving licence and Naturalization

Post by zafarzafar » Sat Dec 19, 2009 9:48 am

Hi All,
After the naturalization refusal of Obanta2009 i wana ask few questions, if some body can help please.

I have 2 penalty points on my driving licence which would be removed after 3 years (the removal date of 2 penalty points would be Feb 2011), beside the penalty points i was fined 60 Euros. which i have paid straight. (the reason of penalty points and 60 Euro was use of mobile phone while i was driving).

According to the law, penalty points would stay on your driving licence for 3 years and after 3 years they would be automatically removed.

Secondly, i was fined twice 40 Euros for wrong parking, which i have paid. On all the occassions no court case have filed.

So my question is : would there be any problem if i apply for naturalization in 2012 where my penalty points would be removed by than, also would the 40 Euro fine be a problem which i have paid on 2 seperate occassions ?

Any advise/help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Don't worry about that zafarzafar. I got the citizenship with 4 points on my licence. Penalty points and fines do not affect citizenship applications.

Good luck

Hi Nehro, I have 1 penalty point and 2 parking fines, am about to apply for citizenship. There are two fields on the application form regarding the offences
12.1 HAVE YOU EVER COMMITTED ANY OFFENCES
AGAINST THE LAWS OF IRELAND OR ANY
OVERSEAS COUNTRY? YES NO

12.2 HAVE YOU EVER BEEN CONVICTED OR FOUND
GUILTY OF ANY OFFENCES AGAINST THE LAWS
OF IRELAND OR ANY OTHER COUNTRY? YES NO
Did yo select YES for the penalty point, which one? Thanks!

12.1 says commited any offences - you didnt intentionally commit it and its not a major crime

12.2 says convicted means you have been convicted in court

TV Licence conviction?

Post by AShawna » Wed Jan 06, 2010 8:49 pm

I heard someone was refused naturalisation based on being convicted and fined for not having a TV licence? Can this be true? Is it criminal??
...though it tarries, it shall surely come...

I am not sure about someone's refusal but I am sure that if you don't pay TV licence then you need to go to court and court gives you fine and I think its conviction.

Yes this is an offence and it may affect the naturalisation application as in this case
