Query regarding maintenance of funds and certificates

Post by koushikv » Mon Jan 11, 2010 3:47 pm

Hi Folks,

I am new to the forum and I have a couple of questions regarding applying for Tier 1 (General) visa. I live in India, and have done all my education here. I work in Chennai in an MNC, in the IT field.

1. I have completed my Master of Management Studies degree from BITS-Pilani. I joined this course right after my Class XII exams. Should this be taken as Bachelor's or Master's degree?

2. I have completed Post-Graduate Diploma in Management. My name on the certificate is spelt wrongly. Should I get this corrected? Or is there some other means of validating that it is me (like a notary certificate / letter from college). It would take at least a month to get the certificate reprinted by the college.

3. Should I only show my salary account as proof for maintenance of funds? Can I show money market instruments and fixed deposits? This is because I regularly transfer money out of my salary account which is a zero balance account.

4. If my application is rejected, the initial amount (I think it is 50K), would be lost. Am I right, or would there be a refund?

Thanks In Advance

Put you educational qualification in the points based calculator and see how many points it gives you. http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/pointscalculator

My post-grad diploma college is not listed. What should I do?

Where can I get an affidavit? Actually, my name is different in different places. Sometimes the initial is expanded, sometimes it is not. Should I do something about it?

3. Should I only show my salary account as proof for maintenance of funds? Can I show money market instruments and fixed deposits? Check this out http://www.immigrationboards.com/viewtopic.php?t=49841

OK on FDs. But should the FD's have been there for 3 months? Also, what about money market instruments like liquid funds that predominantly invest in government securities?

4. If my application is rejected, the initial amount (I think it is 50K), would be lost. Am I right, or would there be a refund? There will not be any refunds if rejected.
