HSMP

If I have HSMP (one year + extension) and have been living here for 4 years (3,5 years WP dependant) can I apply for ILR?

yes. 4 yrs in total with either WP or HSMP and not long interval outside UK during these yrs(9 months in UK minimum every yr).

I wonder how the board can help other than suggesting contacting a solicitor

ur spouse has more chance of getting if he /she is still the the main visa holder

I will continue there. But as a matter of fact my wife can't also apply for ILR yet as she was a work permit dependant.
