Tier 1 Dependant Visa

Hi All,
Im currently in the UK under Tier 1 General visa, came to UK few months ago. My husband has been living in the UK for the past 2 years under Post Study Visa. We need to switch his visa category to Tier 1 General Dependant. Does he have to go back to our home country or can he switch the visa category while being in the UK?
Pls. advice.

He has to go back to ur country to apply for dependant visa,because the main applicant (you) also applied from your own country. He can only apply from uk if you are for extention

Not correct!!

To change from main applicant to a dependent requires the applicant to obtain entry clearance which can be done only from outside UK (read aplicant's home country). This is irrespective of whether the main applicant is in UK on his initial leave to enter/remain or has already extended his stay (been granted further leave to remain).

Dependents should apply from their country of orgin to clear the EC process on their 1st entry as (Tier1(G)Main applicants..)
