So, you are now illegal? The only reason why they would refuse to renew the visa is if you have become "a burden on the state", ie in receipt of social welfare.

Are you a "burden on the state"? One of the stipulations of the IBC amnesty was for those issued with LTR not to become a "burden on the state".

Have you read through this notice from the INIS on the IBC renewals?

http://www.inis.gov.ie/en/INIS/Pages/PB09000197
1. An arrangement has been put in place for the further renewal of permission to remain in the State to non-nationals who are the parents of an Irish born child, born in the State before 1 January 2005, who were initially granted permission to remain in the State under the Irish Born Child Scheme, 2005 (IBC/05) and who were subsequently granted further permission to remain under the IBC Renewals Scheme, 2007.

2. Permission to remain will be renewed for a further period of three years, save in exceptional circumstances, and subject to conditions.

3. If you wish to further renew your permission to remain in the State under this arrangement and you have not been convicted of any criminal offences, you are required to attend with your Irish born citizen child at the Irish Naturalisation and Immigration Service (INIS), 13-14 Burgh Quay, Dublin 2, or your nearest Immigration Office in your local Garda District Headquarters station outside Dublin and to present the following documentation, no earlier than 14 days before your current permission to remain in the State is due to expire:

If your permission to remain in the State expires and you do not renew it, your presence in the State will become illegal, unless you have an alternative basis for remaining in the State.

IBC/05

Post by noneuspousedependant » Wed Feb 03, 2010 6:10 pm

My sista the system is very wishy washy they dont really have a set procedure for dealing with IBC extensions or most other issues, just sit down and relax whenever they are ready to map out a procedure for the renewal, they will renew ur papers my dear, I am in contact with the Justice. Dont let "scare mongers" worry you, I know a friend who renewed two months late during the last renewal and my friend was given her extension. Just relax when the new procedure comes out it will be announced.

Irish government up-using the parents of Irish born child

Post by salem66 » Thu Feb 04, 2010 8:40 am

Yesterday I went to renew my residence permit at Garda National Immigration Bureau, 13/14 Burgh Quay, Dublin 2. And after a very long waiting the immigration officer refused to renew my residence permit and he said they still have not received any instruction regarding the IBC/05 scheme. However, The Irish Naturalisation & Immigration Service announced that on the 17th of December 2009 (http://www.inis.gov.ie/en/INIS/Pages/PB09000197) that “An arrangement has been put in place for the further renewal of permission to remain in the State to non-nationals who are the parents of an Irish born child, born in the State before 1 January 2005, who were initially granted permission to remain in the State under the Irish Born Child Scheme, 2005 (IBC/05) and who were subsequently granted further permission to remain under the IBC Renewals Scheme, 2007â€

I really feel the pain of those who have genuinely contributed to the economy (not depending on welfare) of this country, and who have not been treated the right way. As for those who have not contributed in anyway to this economy since they were given residency, I don't think I have any pitty whatsoever for them.

I got my residence on the basis of an Irish born child in 2002, and I have have been naturalised since last year. initially, it was difficult trying to find a balance (off welfare), but I must say, getting out there to do my thing has been the best decision of my life.

Hope everyone gets what they desire.

Thanks salem. My greatest joy is knowing that I can travel to over 154 countries without visa and not queuing up in GNIB for renewal. The last time I renewed my residency was in 2007, and I must say, it was a nightmere. Paid 100 euro and was the only time I had to pay.

I hope you get your residence asap. You can also apply for your citizenship after you have renewed. If you are working, then it shouldn't be long before you get a positive response.

I have a child born in here in 2002 while I was under work permit. I applied for citizenship in 2005 and after waiting for 36 months, the application was approved.

I was always in work permit up to certain point, they grant me work permit for life (unimited), but still I have to go to GNIB every year and pay 100 €

Money is not the concern, the unlimited time work permit only allow me to work in the same employer.
I was lucky still being employed until my citizenship was approved.
I regret myself not to apply for IBC/2005 (stemp 4) that allow me to work anywhere.

For you guys still in Stemp 4 under IBC/2005, my advise is DON'T TAKE ANY CHANCE.
Apply anything you can, this include WCATT and apply the citizenship a day after your reckonable period reach 5 years.

As you know you work hard and build your life, pay tax etc, after living 8 years in here, citizenship is nothing short than entitlement.

But still if apply for citizenship, I have to wait 3-4 years to get my appliaction for citizenship processed. Waiting game again with GNIB :!:

Had spoken to a person from Dept of Justic about this issue, leaned that the real reson for the IBC/05 renewals being delayed is that the INIS officers (along with their union) are using those IBC05 renewal cases(appox 30000 cases), as a bargaining chip to against the goverment trying to hold back the public pay cut which being apply to their salary,I have just called INIS help line and pointed out this fact to them over the phone and they have admitted, but still tell me to wait and they have no futher help to offer.

Is this Legal???? As the INIS has not publicly announce any strike, can they still getting paid being in their office every day, but refuse to do part of their jobs??
